Vicens Vives is a publishing house dedicated to the edition of school materials. Founded in 1961, it has been using SAP Business One since 2007. Today we are meeting Ricardo Ansede, the firm's IT Manager, who tells us what his day-to-day life is like with this tool.
How does SAP B1 help you in your business?
It normalizes the information that the users handle, that is to say, all the people authorized to an information see it of the same way. Likewise, you can navigate between data forms in a very versatile way.
How many users do you have in your ERP?
Currently about 58 users, but by the end of the year we expect an extension of 15 more.
Does it cover all areas and needs of the company?
Currently we have integrated in SAP the area of Finance, Collections and Payments (and the management of the SII with the AEAT). At the momento, we are developing the sales area (orders, delivery notes and invoices) plus the management of stocks (warehouses, locations, etc.).
In médium-long term there will be a lack of Production and Sales.
What do you use SAP B1 for?
In 2007, SAP was established as the official ERP of the Publishing House for our South American subsidiaries, as we wanted to unify the management software and facilitate the flow of information with them. After a few years of operation in all our subsidiaries, it was decided that it would be the software that would replace the current one in the head office in Barcelona.
From 1 to 10, how would you rate the contribution of SAP in your daily life?
We could say that we currently value it in 8 out of 10.
What do you like most about SAP Business One?
One feature is that it easily centralizes all information in a single session. You don't have to open and close different menus. From a collection line you can see the client's file, their balance...
From a programmer's point of view, it is its accessibility by SDK (Software Development Kit), or its possibility to adapt it to personalize it a little. It is quite malleable.
Would you recommend SAP Business One and Seidor as your technology partner?
We have had a relationship with Seidor for at least 20 years. We know each other well and the level of satisfaction we have with them is very good.
When it comes to choosing ERP, you have to think long and hard before making a decision. In our case, since we have our own IT department, the option was to move from a custom-made software to an ERP. After the experience of being for a few years with SAP in our subsidiaries in South America, we appreciated that it was the best decision for the features mentioned above on this product.
Because of the experience with users who had never worked with SAP before, their adaptation period is very fast, as it is also quite intuitive. Without hesitation, it is a highly recommended option.
